In the novel, The Great Gatsby, the character's emotions and multiple events related to my life in various ways. One aspect I see from the novel is trust. Throughout the story, trusts are frequently being made and broken.
The most difficult trust was between Gatsby and Daisy. Perhaps Daisy never trusted anyone at all. In the beginning, Gatsby fully believes that Daisy was his other half and put trusted her with all his heart. Even as she chose Tom to wed instead of him, he always believed she would someday come back to him and fulfill their missing love. Little does he know, Daisy also loved Tom and when Gatsby asked her to proclaim that she never loved him, she lies. The night after Myrtle's death, Daisy gives no sign for Gatsby and leaves him forever. This may seem like the trust that they had was not real and she just used him for his love and fortune.
Not only just Gatsby and Daisy there was the trust between Daisy, Tom, Myrtle, and Wilson that was broken. Both had an affair effecting their already crumbling relationship. This shows all the selfishness the characters claim in the novel only caring about themselves and not others.
This all may relate to my life in many different aspects. What I do with my trust and how I can gain the trust of others. Unlike many of the characters from the novel I like to cherish the trust of others and not deceive them and I hope to gain the trust of others to be able to lie on any of my burdens in safe hands. Trust is truly important because it helps us all get through difficult situations together and not on our own.
The novel is something I really don't wish my life reflected with. It really shows the darker side of people and how you cannot trust anyone. I want to be able to trust someone with my secrets and problems in order to help me in the future.
